Many years now have taught me to completely ignore the idiot behind,never ever locking eyes with them, if they are intent on overtaking i'll help them past with pleasure, a skilled driver won't tailgate they will be further back so before commmitting to the wrong side of the road they will already be much faster than you, and its always a pleasure to see a good driver making progress not just speeding or straight line only heroes i mean those few who are truly competent but safe behind the wheel.

I don't apply the brake lights to shift them, antagonising an idiot can only make them more idiotic, i'd much rather they came by without the notion of teaching me a lesson so i can keep an eye on them, theory being if they do something stupid it won't be me they hit.

The only really stupid tailgaters i can recall recently have been younger women, i had one a few weeks ago like this on a seriously busy 2 way road sitting right up the back on my old Landcruiser and constantly pushing out onto the other side of the road as if looking for an overtaking opportunity that simply will not present itself and no chance of letting her by because there was no opportunity and i'm following several cars myself but probably not close enough :-), at the roundabout she shot past (relief) in the outside lane to show off the prominent baby on board sticker (Zafira which i find are often driven like this), you can't help or educate plant pots all you can do is hope its someone else they run into.

I find Friday afernoons evenings the time these lemmings come out in numbers, its the time of the week i avoid being on the road if possible.

I don't think that the Glossop bypass has much urgency in the right quarters, not many votes in it. And, the people are unlikely to fill in the surveys to the satisfaction of the authorities. When the survey questionaire was sent out for the Hazel Grove to Manchester Airport bypass There were about five questions regarding the route and nine regarding 'social' orientation.

I never dab my brake pedal in case I get 'taught a lesson' as I have in the past when I have annoyed an idiot.

I read somewhere once that a driving test should be only allowed if the applicant can prove that he/she has been taught by a registered motoring school. Being taught by a benevolent uncle who has just been missing death for 30 years sould not be allowed.
