Any adverse publicity that Audi have received does not appear to have affected their sales in the UK.

It seems that they are becoming the car of choice for premium buyers judging by the number of newly registered cars on the road.

Audi and the VW group as a whole export over 800,000 cars to the UK and must be getting worried about any possible import taxes if a suitable post Brexit agreement can't be reached

I suspect all manufacturers optimise their cars to minimise emissions during testing. Its a good marketing strategy and can put the car in a lower tax bracket. VW were just more blatant and/or got caught.

It is probably the principle reason why most cars in the HJ Real MPG fail to get close to test economy - manufacturers have simply become smarter at playing the system.

The test is clearly inadequate although one wonders if following Brexit the rules will be ditched for UK sales.

Not had much impact on VW sales here. The ignorant are making the Golf the 4th best selling car in UK. Polo is 7th. Audi Ugly A3 10th, pipped by Mercedes C-class at 9th.

The forthcoming snowy weather will only reinforce the wise decision to buy a front wheel drive premium car like the Audis.
What use is a rear wheel drive Mercedes or BMW if it is stuck in your drive and you see the neighbour go happily on his way.
BMW have pre emptied this with the current adverts for the X drive.

I've got a (RWD) BMW 325d estate. It manages perfectly well on winter tyres here on the hilly, rural, un-gritted roads of North Wales. Changed over from the summers at the end of October, and usually put the summers back on late April.

Of course, in heavy snow it's going nowhere, like anything else apart from a proper 4*4.

Also noticed the other day Merc heavily advertising the '4matic' on the C class.

Audi are only a dressed up VW. I certainly dont regard them as premium. RWD cars are perfectly usable in snow and ice, as long as you take the time to learn to drive in those conditions, and have good tyres, preferable winter tyres.

You attack anyone who has the temerity to buy an SUV and (heaven forbid !) park it close to your car. Do those horrible commoners not know who you are ?

Now, you attack anyone who buys a VW/Skoda/Audi/SEAT as 'ignorant'.
