Citroen Xsara 2.old Diesel - Heat related non starter - Jon Wright

This car will start and run from cold

Turn it off and start again, no probs

Turn it off and leave 10 mins, won't start

Turn it off and leave for 1 hour usually starts

I think the problem is heat related, is there anyone out there that could advise me on what part could be causing this issue

Any advice much apreciated

Jon

Could be the diesel temperature sensor, common issue on older 2L diesel Peugeots, mainly the Mk1 307.

A good diagnostic will bring up the fault codes and reading live data should show wild temperature results.

Always best to get a diagnostic because its a £40+ part.

Google "Planet Owners Map" for details of people around the UK with the kit that can do a diagnostic for you. This fault code won't come up on a generic scan-anything reader, it didn't on my 307.

Thank you, have completed diagnostics once, came up with crank sensor I believe (wasn't there) changed it anyway

Will now look at your suggestion

Thanks again

Sorry to appear thick, but I am trying to find a Diesel temp sensor, but can only find a coolant sensor, is there a sensor specifically for the Diesel, or am I being an idiot

Live readings with Diagbox should tell you if its incorrectly reading the temperature.
