I haven't, but don't be tempted to buy any used car without seeing it first.

When I ran a field team, I can remember phoning the local Ford dealer to buy a couple of year-old focuses without looking at them. But they knew us, and valued the repeat business.

On a personal level, I bought a 3 month old car (with 600 miles) over the phone, relying on the (franchised) dealer to describe it accurately.

But normally, I'd want to go and have a look. Ultimately, buying is about trust - and why would you trust someone you've not met?

The Toyota dealer in Macclesfield claimed # - two years ago - that they sold a lot of cars sight unseen. People trusted them to describe the car correctly and they had a 30 day no quibble full refund if not as described/buyer was not happy.

(They had a buyer phone up asking about a car when I was there - from the South Coast

Others no doubt have the same.

They practised "pile them high, sell cars cheap and often"

Note the caveats.

# Youngest son boughta 2 years old Yaris SR from them. Apart from a water leak - hose pinhole - warranty job- car has been trouble free.

If you buy on line make sure it is a model you have driven. A friend did not and traded in in after six months as he could not get comfortable. When I was looking for a car recently quite a few did not feel right!
