The Focus just had a "major service" at Halfords so would have thought they would have checked the power steering fluid level!......

but I am hearing a drone type noise when the car is stationary and I turn the steering wheel?...

I know these cars have some kind of electrical steering system and the bottle with the fluid necessitates the front light to be removed before it can be checked (probably why Halfords gave it a miss).

Could it be anything else?

I would check the fluid level first.Headlight removal is easy on these.Screw at the top and spring clips at the bottom.A fault on the electronic part of the pump would usually show a fault in the dash display.Was it ok before the service?
