BMW 2 Series Gran Tourer - BMW 2 series Tourer 7 seater - daveyK_UK

What a truly horrid 7 seater, ridiculously expensive price, awful rear seats compared to most rivals and flimsy interior such as the pathetic rear seat trays.

Why do the motoring press give this car such high praise?

There are far better compact and full size 7 seaters on the market.

I am so pleased i tested this car before proceeding.

I looked at the 5 seater. Once I knew it had no spare I went no further.

I looked at the 5-seater too: a spare wheel is an option (or I'd have gone no further) but I found an odd combination - a car which (according to HJ and others) isn't selling too well, but with hardly any discount being offered.

A 2-series Active Tourer (220i or 220d) with the extras I needed was the same list price as the Volvo V60 which I finally went for - but I got £5,000 off the Volvo, by getting a quote from a broker which the excellent local dealer (Yeovil Volvo) matched.

It's still a good car, and less ugly than the 7-seater Gran Tourer. But BMW still put too many things on the options list which ought to be standard, such as front seat lumbar support, which add to the price without being included in any discount calculation.

We just did a review on the 2 Series Gran Tourer here: www.jks-fleet.co.uk/bmw-2-series-gran-tourer-revie.../. Whilst we weren't quite a scathing as you, I would agree with some of what you are saying.

On the point of discounts, they are now coming in and they are coming in much cheaper than before to lease.

As to better compact 7 seaters, they are all a compromise even the larger SUV style like the X-Trail which we also reviewed. Alternatives to the 2 Series Gran Tourer would be the VW Touran, or Citroen C4 Grand Picasso for example.
