I have a failed dipped nearside headlight. AA could not fix. Nothing wrong with bulb at all. Spent an hour with the electrics but came up with the need for BMW diagnostics. BMW Sytner want £150 just to look at ithe problem. Any ideas? I object to paying £150 with no guarantee of success.

Is this a regular halogen or xenon headlight?

Could be a fault in the wiring loom or even a fuse. The cheapest way to rectify it would probably be to fit a relay energised by the working headlamp.

Regretably,in common with most modern cars,it ain't that simple. The lights are controlled electronically by the body/footwell module. There are no fuses for the lighting circuit.Yes,it would be possible to spur off the other light, but i am not too sure how that would upset the bulb failure warning system. It would be nice to see a reply from my first post/response.
