Ford Mondeo - Raspy noise when accelerating - clairey37

Getting a raspy noise when accelerating in 1.8 ford Mondeo petrol. Can a broken Spring cause this as drop links have been replaced. Steering also grinds when turning is this related?

More likely to be an exhaust heat sheild come adrift.
