Yep! And if that had been you or me been videoed by a police car or if they saw the video we would soon be in front of the magistrates court,

But hey! One law for them....

The splashed pedestrian claims in the article that other cars drove round the puddle - therefore he had seen the puddle and was able to anticipate what might happen - or am I missing something? I would have thought about crossing the road there or at least waiting till there was no oncoming traffic likely to splash me before walking (or if I was a gym instructor, jogging) past the mini-lake.
The council and water authority surely has some responsibility here, as that section of road seems to have an almighty dip, or erratic camber, or some seriously blocked drains!

Doesn't matter. That pedestrian had every right to walk that path, water or not. The onus is on the driver to slow down enough not to cause the wave or drive around the pool.

I've been behind vans and lorries that you can see deliberately pull to the near side in rain and splash the pavements. They get an immature kick I suppose. Inexcusable. Pedestrians must be allowed to walk along in rain without getting drenched by these m****s who think it's funny.

It's not hard. Slow down enough to cause as little splashing as possible or drive around if safe to do so. It's just being a considerate driver.

I walk a fair amount under such conditions - and the vast majority drivers are considerate. Bilboman does have a point that the pedestrian does need to be aware that (s)he may get splashed. I find that it's often this check (looking over my shoulder if the traffic comes from behind) that alerts the driver. It's been a long time since I was soaked by an inconsiderate driver.

Nothing annoys me more than that, i take care to manage not to drown pedestrians with 6 axles yet times i've seen the car in front, or behind, go straight through the pool, idiots, you can't educate cabbage.

Any lorry driver doing that where avoidable should be subject to an unpleasant face to face chat with the Area Traffic Commisioner.

Maybe it was after he was splashed that he saw subsequent cars go round?
