There is no price on it, that's the opening bid requirement. In addition, no guarantee that they'd sell it for that price, as they will have a reserve set.

All you can do is bid to what you think it's worth, and wait and see what happens (or not bid, just keep an eye on the auction and see how it pans out)

EDIT : WBAC values it at £7660.

But still you would bidding on a car less than one year old that has had two owners already.

Number of owners is a good sign that something is not right. 1-2 owners would be normal for a 5 year old car. Exceptions exist like the car was pre-registered and therefore the first owner was then dealer. But still that leaves the current owner selling after only a few months!

IMHO prices of second hand cars are so low these days, it not worth taking the risk of a private seller for the sake of £500 or so saving. Go to a dealer and get the sales of Goods act behind you.

ORB - It's on sale in Haverhill, which isn't far from Colchester. You can go and have a look at it and see how genuine you think the seller is.

If the seller is for any reason reluctant for you to go, run a mile. Personally if I were looking for nearly-new I'd spend the extra and buy from a main dealer.

A registration document (V5) is not proof of ownership. The registered keeper should be the person who is actually using / keeping the vehicle and this is not necessarily the owner of the vehicle or the person purchased it.

I have added this comment because probate in my experence takes longer than 1 year.Care should be taken to ensure the seller actually has legal title to the car. You dont want at a later date other relatives clawing back the car as they can prove legal ownership.

This alone is a reason to stay away (unless they can show you documented evidence of completion, and even then these things can be faked quite easily)

Thanks for all the replies, especially re: Probate and legal ownership.

I had sent a message via ebay and the seller would have allowed me to see the vehicle, but following everyones comments will pass on this one.

TA!
