Vauxhall Corsa C - defective tyre - Whistleblow-er

Bought 2 new tyres from xxxx and realised after fitting that 1 was defective. When I asked for a replacement/refund I was told that as they had been fitted they could provide no refund. So instead, I gave them an ultimatum. Either, make a small gesture off a replacement tyre and order through them, or provide no help and face having their name rubbished on the internet. They were not interested in providing any gesture with their faulty tyre and clearly not interested in my future custom, for the sake of £10-20 I would have accepted.

Also, I wrote 4 seperate damning reviews on their website, all of which were deleted. Strangely, all of the reviews on the website are immensely positive, I wonder why!

If your order goes to plan, this is the cheapest company you can buy from, if it doesn't, you will face the most evasive, unhelpful, excuse for customer service on the internet. Without doubt, I would rather pay a bit more and buy from a company that wants to provide great customer service and takes customer complaints seriously.

(Edit: name of tyre supplier removed. This is a public forum and NOT the place to rubbish an individual business. Before rushing into posting you should have read the 'naming and shaming' policy in the pernanent threads above.)

Vauxhall Corsa C - defective tyre - RobJP

Migtht I suggest, before rubbishing a company, you provide a few more details. For example, you state that the tyre was 'defective', but don't provide any details at all as to HOW it was defective. It's entirely possible, if they only supplied the tyre, that the fitter (was it a professional fitter, or a bodge job at home ?) has caused the damage.

You'd have expected a professional fitter to have noticed the 'defective' tyre at the time of mounting it.

So their viewpoint may well be that Mr Bodgit has fitted his own tyre, damaging it in the process. In which case, they are entitled to tell you where to go.

The devil is, as always, in the detail. And your initial post is notably lacking in detail.

EDIT : Oh, and then you tried to blackmail them, by threatening poor online reviews. Because dress it up however you like, that's what your original post implied you were doing.

Vauxhall Corsa C - defective tyre - gordonbennet

It's most unusual for a tyre to be defective like what? immediately after fitting, i was in the tyre game in my youth and have bought hundreds of tyres for family and self over the years and i haven't come across a faulty one yet, avoiding the cheapest ditchfinders possibly helps.

Its not unknown however for a ham fisted tyre bay unprofessional to mount a tyre with the machine without using adequate lube or the wheel the wrong way up, the machine then unceremoniously rips the bead to shreds as it goes round, and i've had a few lorry remoulds over the years which burst after a few days or weeks use.

Tyre could have been damaged during transit, but again i must have bought probably 80 or more tyres via the internet from 4 of the well known sites incl Tyreleader and i'm yet to have a problem delivery or any sign of damage.

So for me, and i agree with Rob's view too, i won't be taking much notice of this warning.
