I have a Ford Mondeo Titanium and I understand the sat nav is only available for UK and NI. I am going to France later this year and am thinking of buying a Tom Tom 52 5 Full Europe. Can I make if fully compliant for use in France and how? Or would you rely on a large scale road map?
On TomTom's website it states, "TomTom’s service in France is certified to be 100% legal. Instead of warning for exact locations of cameras, TomTom warns for Danger Zones around any potential danger, including cameras." That can be found here: uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5560...w
If you're not convinced, we'd suggest you buy the France map on TomTom's website and then deactivate the speed camera warnings on the device. You can always return it if you aren't happy with it. I assume you don't want to use a smartphone, but if you do have a smartphone and unlimited data then you could use your phone's navigation rather than buy a sat nav. Just check the terms and conditions surrounding using your data abroad. Many networks allow data roaming for no extra fee when in Europe, but better to check or you could end up with a big bill.
