Ford Focus Zetec TDCI 1.8 1997 - Screeching Noise - Margo49

My car has just started making a screeching noise on acelleration after starting up. This goes away after about half a mile. Any Ideas anyone what the problem is?

I'd guess the auxiliary drive belt's loose.

At start up your glow plugs will put an extra load on the alternator, causing the belt to slip. After a short while the glow plugs extinguish and the load's reduced.

Get the belt checked.

Focus 1997 TDCI ??????? does not compute.But still sounds like slipping alternator/PAS/AC drive belt.
