HJ is the best person to answer this question, but if you do search on google.co.uk for "glass's guide car prices" and link to a site other than glass's (such as carsource), you can get access to glass's prices.

I own a 1999 523i sport which has now done nearly 100000 miles. I bought it after testing it against an E240 Avantgarde. The E240 was very quiet but the gentle growl of the 523i engine appealed to me in addition to its driving dynamics.

A quick look on Autotrader suggests £18,000 to £19,000 retail for the car if it's a base spec manual saloon, add £1000 or more for a Touring and probably a bit more again for an auto.

I would suggest that auction or trade values for that car would be in the £15,000 to £17,000 range, depending on spec. If you're interested in a car owned by your company, try £14,000 - they can only say no.

And if HJ slaps my figures down, listen to him, not me!

Oh, he beat me. Actually I revised my figures up a bit based on Autotrader - so maybe it's just a particularly expensive week.
