1997 1.8td adjustment on clutch - banter
the biting point on the clutch is at the top of pedal, is this a characteristic of the motor or can it be adjusted

Mine was at the top of the pedal, but not slipping, when I bought the car. It was still at the top of the pedal and not slipping when I sold the car on nearly three years and 50,000 miles later.

From an overall cost of ownership point of view, this is the cheapest car I've owned by a considerable margin.

Over 3 yrs / 50,000 miles:

£1900 in depreciation.
£400 in maintenance and repairs
£250 in tyres.

Not one bill over £150. Not one breakdown. New owner drove it to Warsaw, Poland with no preparation and it didn't skip a beat. Slow and noisy, but they "out engineer" many of the premium brands IMHO.
