1997 1.6 Flashing Red exclamation warning light - thecodd
Hi, sorry I don't have the manual to check to see what the problem is ? This warning light (!) is flashing red on the dash, can someone tell me what it means ? Cheers Simon

Is that not the low brake fluid light. Regards Peter

Has the light got some kind of symbol on it?

Conventionally this symbol means that the handbrake is not fully released - though it may not be applied enough to affect driving. Could make discs or drums a bit hot though; so check that if the brake is fully off there is no fault in the actuating switch.

Haven't seen it flash though.

Conventionally this symbol means that the handbrake is not fully released .....

And as PeterD mentions, it is generally also a low brake fluid warning light.

dimdip, the symbol is an exclamation mark surrounded by two brackets ie, (!) - as mentioned by the OP of this thread.

Ah apologies.

Front pad wear sensors could be another possibility then, if so fitted.

Yes but that goes off after a couple on minutes where as the fluid level dos not. Check the fluid level and report back. Regards Peter
