Selling Mercedes SL Advice - Xtype
My mother in law has asked me to sell her 1999 Merc SL. Its in great condition and has only done 16k miles with herself as the only owner. Can anyone advise on where to sell it - autotrader or better off with a Merc owners club?
Also is now a good time to sell or shall I wait until the Spring?
Thanks in advance.

It was a nice weekend here. Saw Plenty of people blowing the dust off the summer cars and bikes this weekend. I would think about now is a good time to start marketing this car.

Go to WHSmith and buy a copy of Mercedes Enthusiast Magazine. There are about 20 or so specialist dealers who are regular advertisers in the mag, who I'm sure would be very interested. The magazine is also an excellent read for any Merc fans.

Yes, Mercedes Enthusiast is a good channel with small ads for private vendors. You would have to join the MB Club to place a small ad in their Gazette, I think.

I guess you'll get a better price selling privately than to a dealer, but it's certainly worth talking to them.

You may well find that the 16k over ten years puts some buyers off -- serious under-use, with all its consequences. On the other hand, there will be plenty out there who cannot resist a car with very low mileage from one lady owner, including the spcialist dealers. Best of luck to them and to you for a good deal.

I agree with Altea Ego. The 58 reg Z4's are out on the forecourt again at the local BMW dealer, and everyone round here is washing their cars in a "thank goodness this wretched winter is over" mood.
Sounds quite tempting, actually - though prices seem to be all over the place.
