Can anyone tell me how long a battery should take to charge. I've put two new ones in this car, each went flat, and each have taken 5 hours to charge when they went flat. Is that right?? I thought they would be charged in a couple of hours?

Are you just relying on a red/green light on the charger?;you should be looking at 20/24 hours depending on the input-divide the amp-hour capacity of the battery by the amps going in and that will give you a figure in hours to which you should add about a further 25%.
