Crashing on unfamiliar road could inval insurance - sir_hiss
News article on this website "Motorists 'could be frustrated by road works' " claims (and I quote) "Drivers who are rerouted because of maintenance work could find that they invalidate their car insurance policies if they have a crash on a road they are unfamiliar with"

Now that's got to be wrong - since when has a condition of your insurance been that you must not drive on unfamiliar roads ?

Any reason for the insurer to present an argument and not pay out?

How is maintenance work leading to a reroute in this country even unfamiliar to most drivers?!?!

How ridiculous. That would mean if you hadn't already been somewhere you'd have invalid insurance if you went to new places! If anything you are more likely to crash on familiar roads as you pay less attention in places you know well.

I think its another example of the drivel that is posted on this website under the heading of News. I believe this has been raised before, the News is "fed in" from an outside source and is not vetted in any way. This is more proof of that.

Patience - sometimes it's fast, sometimes it's slow. Sometimes it doesn't work at all.

If others didn't take the time and effort to post such as this, meaningless as it would appear to be to yourself as an individual, what happens to the rest of us that may find it useful & informative reading?

The interweb is the greatest spreader of urban myths ever devised.

That is very true RR but if you have an 'heads up' on the 'possibility' of such being for real - then you are one step ahead of the competition!

Yes, rumour control has a whole new meaning since the interweb came along....

Just a thought you understand

Isn't that connected to the fact that if you re- route and go cross country over rough ground etc then may be you policy does not cover for 4 x 4 ing.
