What exactly is it? Seen some info on it, but nothing certain.

I am a field service engineer, and i visit sites to repair office equipment.

Is that classed as commercial travel?

Thanks

CT are old fashioned reps of yore.
Anyone who doesn't have a permanent place of work & drives to various places in their own car needs class 1 business use. That's the definition that most use anyway.

I am a young executive. No cuffs than mine are cleaner; I have a Slimline brief-case and I use the firm's Cortina.

The old fashioned definition is the sales rep who would be typically going from shop to shop (the 'traveller in ladies underwear') with a kit of samples which he would use to solicit orders.

The definition is a bit of an issue with insurance cover - the above type of use should have class 3 insurance cover.

However today there are many sales reps arguably doing the same thing, although they're generally not carrying samples. In my company they're all driving on class 1 cover - they've had their share of claims, and no payout problems that I'm aware of.
