I know its only £15, but paid a particular website ( don't think I can name) who promises to have ads loaded onto many others including Fish4, FridayAd Carsource, cardata
Can't find ad on any of these - only their own site and a few "minor ones" which I can't believe people would look at anyway

Sounds very similar to the phone type scam - promise the earth, but never anything to show for it.
IIRC at least one firm use to record your response to the question of whether "the car is still available", follow-up questions and edit them to give the impression you had approved its services, after you receive the hefty bill and make a complaint.

I think you'll just have to kiss goodbye to £15. Trading Standards may be interested but otherwise not much else you can do.
