Shell Petrol - still the best? - Robin Hall
Having seen various recommendations for Shell and Texaco Petrol on this site I have started filling up at my local Shell Garage and foregoing the loyalty points on my T**co card. Last night I noticed that both the premium and super unleaded are now Ultra Low Sulphur. Having seen a previous thread about possible problems with ULSP would people still recommend Shell? Or will this be a blanket change to all brands and we will have no choice?

Don't know about Shell - but I for the first time put in Esso ULS on Saturday, accidentally. I have an R plate Mondeo 2 litre.

Trip computer usually tells me that on Q8 unleaded, I get 36-38 mpg. On Tesco unleaded I get 42-44. Amazingly, on this ULS stuff I'm getting 45-48! Perhaps it isn't all bad after all?

If you are really worried about the loss of loyalty card points at the Supermarket "petrol" pumps get a Tesco Visa Card. Result- loyalty card points on EVERYTHING you buy with it including proper petrol!!
