Average Speed Cameras in London - Lud
Wonderful.

Perhaps they can aim some of them at the pavement to spot cyclists and large groups of fat people standing in the way with their mouths open like cattle.

I'm all in favour of a bit more control.

Shape up citizens! Euthanasia is just round the corner!

If you have a satnav system that shows your average speed then you could sit at a red light in Camden for a couple of minutes, and then blast through the rest of the 20mph zone at 60 or whatever.

As long as your average speed doesn't go over 20mph you wouldn't trigger the final camera.

Which doesn't seem like much of a step forward vis a vis road safety to me.

Most of the Specs cameras in Nottingham are spaced at approx. 150 to 250 yard intervals, so speeding up between them then braking to the correct speed would be risky and pointless, if you dont want a fine and 3 points.

Out of interest, does anyone know at what distance the Specs camera reads your numberplate, and therefore creates the time log?

About time, too. People can't claim they're being put in to raise cash if they clock average speed.
