I know this was a long time ago but someone might find this useful, if you unplug the cooling water temperature sensor on the top left on the front of the cylinder head, it makes the cooling fan kick in and if you are wanting to test your glow plugs as well it switches them on. If the sensor has gone faulty it may bring the fan on to protect the engine.
