Renault Laguna starting problems - dj67blue
Hi, I have a 1995 renault Laguna 2.0 on a 'M' reg
The problem i have with it is that it has developed a fault which has got me puzzled.
The car is refusing to start at the moment off the key.
When i key the ignition the service light stays lite for about 5-10 secs and then goes out.
then when i try to start the engine it only clicks and does not kick the starter into action. The click seems to conme from the glovebox area.

Any suggestions??

I had a 98 laguna that ate starter motors - I think it was burning out the solenoid. IIRC, they weren't easy to replace, being stupidly tucked under the engine, meaning removal of driveshaft to access. Check GSF or eurocarparts car parts if you need spares.
Also if you put car in gear and rock it slightly, it can move the starter off a dead spot.

I have already tried to bump start the car with no joy and dont know where the soleniod is

found out after the last couple of sunny days that the car will start ok when the sun has been on the car for a couple of hours. It has really got me puzzled
