Im a bit thick I think . Can anyone tell me where the cars driveshafts connect too ? Reason being Im having a recon gearbox done shortly , and basicaly was curious as to weather I will still have play in the driveshafts .

If its FWD then driveshfts are splined into the diff outputs and (usually) retained by a snap-ring.
Do they connect to the gearbox directly ? As im having to get a new recon gearbox.
Normally, yes, srtaight in to the gearbox. Some bolt to an output flange on the gearbox, but not so many of those around now.

Its a Vectra 1.8 petrol manual gearbox

The driveshafts can be separated from the gearbox. If you're having a recon box fitted, than that's all you get. They'll use the existing driveshafts - unless they find they're worn and *should* advise you accordingly.

So the drive shafts connect directly to the gearbox ?
Thanks for the replies . So if theres any play there a recon Box wont cure that ?
Not unless the play is where the inner cv joint goes into the gearbox. If the play is between the driveshaft and cv joint, then it's the cv joint that's worn.
