Hi
does any one know where the diagnostic socket for the service indicator is located on a 1999 1.8T Audu A6 Saloon?

Its on the drivers side dash under the steering column area (where most are located). You can reset the service indicator using the two buttons on the speedo and rev-counter.

Thanks Aprilia - have found the socket. What is the sequence for resetting using the buttons on the speedo/rev counter? I have tried several options but it only seems to alternate between INSP and OIL, rather than reset the indicator.

Sorry to pinch you answer Aprilia....
Button by the left dial is button B
Button by the right dial is button A
to re set OIL
1/With the key off
2/Press and hold button A
3/Turn ign on.
4/Release A
5/OEL/OIl sould be displayed.
6/Pull out button B and hold it untill "---" is displayed.
To reset INSP
Follow first three above.
Press and release A
INSP displayed.
Pull out and hold B untill "---" displayed.
If the above will not work, then some of the Audis that are set for 10,000 servive intervals, can only be re-set with a tool.
