Anyone out there know why the passenger electric window on my daughter's 1999 Fiesta slows right down as it comes within inches of closing. She's just bought the car and is obssessed with having everything work just right. Told her I thought it might be a safety device to prevent trapped fingers but she won't buy that because the driver's side window does not do the same.

Have to say that I haven't noticed this "safety feature" on SWMBO's 1998 Fiesta. Sounds more like a fault?

If it is anything like the situation on my Rover it will be that the seals on the electric windows are not adequately lubricated. You can use one of the squirty spray cans of silicon grease (with the WD40 style red pipe) to lubricate the window seals and this might lead to much freer running.
As a small warning, I failed to do this in time to my car, which led to the failure of the brackets which mounted the window to the bracket - a truly disastrous error!

Sorry, the abouve should read "window to the mechanism". Should this occur you would most likely require a new window, as the plastic brackets are virtually impossible to stick back to the glass.

I am not certain on this. But should.I think be two bolts attaching window to mechanism.could be it needs adjustment.as in some cases the window is slightly too tight on one side causing it to slow down when nearly closed if so A case of releasing pressure on bolts then retighten.that normaly works if not may be just a sluggish motor hope that helps?

Hi Chris,
I have exactly the same problem with a 99 model Fiesta, but on the drivers door window. I my case it seems to slow when almost closed then speed up again.
I found a solution by using a silicon spray, something very similar to ignition sealer will do the trick as the one i have contains silicon as a water disperser, a liberal dose of this on the side rubbers should help. Another source of silicon spray is a dash/plastic shiner spray.
Let us know how you get on.
