Replacing a Subaru. Should I get another Subaru?

The time has come to replace my 2001 2.5l Subaru Legacy Outback Estate. At 140,000 miles it's beginning to cost more than it's worth (i.e. next to nothing)

The car is used for general everyday local stuff and frequently makes trips to the dump, fetching garden supplies etc. I have two other cars when I want to enjoy just driving.

The car also has to be capable of trailering a classic Alfa Giulia Coupe to hillclimbs and sprints where the trailer paddock is often a muddy field - so 4x4 is essential. The Alfa weighs approx 1000kgs. I would happily replace the car with the more recent, post 2004 Subaru, but before I do, I just wondered if I would be better off with a 'traditional' 4x4 such as a Discovery or similar. I guess I could also look at the Audi or Volvo 4x4 estates

Budget is up to £7k, with mileage ideally below 70,000 miles. I'm happy to allocate up to £1000 per year to keep the car roadworthy

I'd stick with Subaru, but also consider a Forester for the job. Only go for a Disco or similar if you value the extra height inside for when it rains.
