good concept marred by poor execution

now owned for 1 year+. msport suspension plus 18" wheels/v. low profile run-flat tyres = hard ride and v.expensive tyre replacements. hard ride contributes to myriad creaks + rattles (most well documented on owner forums). rwd + tyre combination means need for care in wet conditions and best leave at home in ice/snow. the one big, seemingly unsolvable, problem is clutch judder - a symptom of the vibrations from a lightweight, high-power diesel, via a reportedly sub-standard dmf/clutch combination. much discussed on owner forums (nearly 50,000 hits on one of them). multiple clutch replacements, at low mileages, seemingly provide no long-term fix; rumours of improved replacement part(s) soon (???) - bmw non-warranty fix ca. £1600.
