Audi A3 vs BMW 1 Series interior

Is there any truth to the rumours that there is less space in the back of the new Audi A3 than the BMW 1? Which would be better suited to accommodate 2 kids?

The new 1 Series is now not too bad in the back. Obviously to be comparable the A3 would have to be a 5 door Sportback coming in a month or two. You can't muck about trying to strap kids into the back seats of a 3 door or you'll wreck your own back. See video: www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/bmw/bmw-1-series-f...o
