4x4 or MPV?

I am looking to buy a 2008 or 2009 Honda CRV auto or Ford Galaxy diesel automatic. 4 large adults, occasional 5th passenger and a very large dog! Have always had japanese cars and found them very reliable, comforable and pleasant to drive. Im now trading in my Nissan Tino as we need more space and would like to know how reliable I could expect a Galaxy to be in comparison with the CRV? and which car would most likely be the cheapest to maintain. Thank you!

Honda did not make a CR-V diesel automatic until the 2.2iDTEC of late 2010. The older 2.2iCDTI manual only had the advantage of no diesel particulate filter. The iDTEC does have one.
