Downsize from Santa Fe to more economcal family car

We are looking to change our 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe for a cheap to run quality family car. We have narrowed it down to a Volvo V50 DrivE (SE LUX), Golf Bluemotion (1.6 S/Line) or Nissan Qashqai 1.6D Tekna. Is there anything else better to consider and what would you recommend?

Go for the Qashqai 1.6dCi because it has by far the best engine. But don't go for the Tekna 4WD on 18" wheels. Go for the cheaper Visia or Acenta 2WD on 16" wheels.
