Grinning from Ghia to Ghia

I have the opportunity to trade in my 2008 Mondeo Ghia estate for an 2008 Titanium X estate. I note these come with 18-inch wheels but I am concerned about the ride quality. Should I be? Also, the version I am looking at has a 2.0 litre petrol engine, so is there anything else I should be concerned about. I have read the 'what to watch out for' but the problem areas seem to be more related to diesels.

Not too bad on a Mondeo because the suspension is compliant, but they are more vulnerable to pothole and speed cushion damage than 17" or 16" wheels with more rubber between the rims and the road. The 2.0 Ford petrol engine is now a curiously unsatisfactory thing to drive, lacking both power art high revs and torque at low revs.
