Breathing underwater

Can you please advise which 4x4 you think would be better for me. I live in a village and we suffer from flooding into and out of the village so I need a car to get through flooding. I have had two Range Rovers in the past and do not want another. The fog lights always fill up with water, among other, many problems. I have also had a LandCruiser before and liked it very much. However, I do need to watch the pennies regarding petrol/diesel. I would be grateful for your suggestion. I am looking for a used car.

Virtually any vehicle can be modified with an air intake sealed below the waterline and a snorkel. Current shape (and old shape) Mitsubishi L200 4wd pick-ups have very high air intakes, at the tops of the bonnets, so are suitable for driving through floods. They are also the smallest and most car-like to drive of the current crop, and are often discounted because they are not popular due to the fact that the 4-door versions devote much more space to passengers than to load. In my experience they have the toughest drivetrains of all pick-ups. But not the best engines.
Dear Honest John,
