Paddle car

I am looking for a suitable car to fit two needs. My daughter and I go kayaking so we need a car to carry our two boats on the roof, they weigh about 17kg each and are about 2.5m long, plus we need space in the car to store a couple of 2m long paddles and all the associated kit. In addition, my daughter turns 17 this summer so we need a car that's suitable for her to learn to drive in and is not too expensive to insure. I currently have a 1999 Rover 820 5-door auto with 120k miles, which is ideal for the kayaking side but is probably not the best car for my daughter to learn in. What would you recommend?

The new Citroen Berlingo Multispace. The Kayaks can go on the roof and the paddles on the ceiling rack inside. Deals at www.drivethedeal.com
