Joy ride
I currently have a Toyota Yaris, which I should be happy with, but it lacks any joie de vivre or real joy of driving. In a perfect world, I would have a nice two-seater sports car (I used to have a BMW Z3), however I have a 6’ 6” husband and I occasionally want to take my mother in law or the dog with me (in the boot preferably - that's the dog - not the mother in law).

A Yaris actually provides a more sporty drive than a Z3. It just doesn't look as 'sporty'. So is it ‘wind in the hair’ you want or is it a sports car? If a sportscar, then you won't beat a RenaultSport Megane 250. If that's too big, a RenaultSport Clio 200.
