Under suspension

I was considering buying a 2.0 litre petrol Qashqai and then someone suggested the 1.5 diesel as it was more frugal on both fuel and road tax. I was a little concerned as to whether the 1.5 diesel might be a little underpowered for the size of car and wondered if you had any adverse comment to make on this engine. I also understand that early models of the Qashqai had rear shock absorber problems and wondered whether this apparent problem has now been resolved. Nissan do not seem to have recognised that there was ever a problem.

The Qashqai has recently been revised with changes to the rear suspension to eliminate this problem. The 1.5 diesel is a belt cam Renault engine found under the bonnets of millions of cars and vans and is now reasonably reliable. Your only problem might be if you do a lot of short runs from cold and clog up the particulate filter.
