I am looking at changing from a VAG 1.6FSI petrol to a VAG 1.4TSI turbo petrol (Skoda). I have an unavoidable 40% proportion of sub-2 mile journeys from cool/cold. I do intermittent long motorway runs. Would you expect a turbo petrol to cope ok? 1.6FSI is coping well.

Logically, yes. The water-cooled turbo in the exhaust manifold uses hot exhaust gas to help heat the engine up faster than a non-turbo engine. I noticed this when I ran a Leon 20VT 6 years ago.
