I got a parking ticket for staying 23 hours, even though I stayed less than two - can I appeal?

I've been issued a parking ticket for staying 23 hours in a Sainsbury's car park even though I only stayed 1 hour 35 minutes. Cars are allowed to stay up to two hours there. What now?

This is fairly standard where ANPR is used to check when cars enter and leave the carpark. The ANPR can sometimes misread. Take it to POPLA. Then, if they pursue it, let the matter go to Small Claims and plead your case there. Sir Greg Knight's parliamentary bill to stop this sort of abuse of Clause 56 of the Protection of Freedoms Bill and the Supreme Court ruling in Beavis v Parking Eye November 2015 underwent its second reading in the Commons in February to widespread cross party support.
