How can I mount a dash cam without a lead trailing down?

Having had the disappointing experience of being side-swiped by a lorry and the driver then claiming it was my fault, it's time to get a dash cam. One thing that bothers me, though, is that if I mount it behind the mirror then the power lead will hang down distractingly, which I don't want. Is it possible to mount them on the top of the dashboard?
Buying a dash cam is definitely a good idea - even if you just go for a cheap option, it could save you a lot of money in the event of an accident. I've attached a video link that shows how to hide the wires in the lining of the car, it's pretty simple and keeps the cable out of the way: youtu.be/xwD8Ilk-MHU?t=46

In terms of choosing a dash camera, we'd recommend having a read of our guide first. It explains the legal situation when it comes to positioning a dash cam which is definitely something to consider before you buy one. Essentially, it can't obstruct your view of the road: kit.honestjohn.co.uk/dash-cam-buying-advice-guide/

There are lots of choices out there for a range of budgets so I'll attach links to reviews for some we rate highly below. I'd also recommend browsing our Top 10: Best Value Dash Cams for some cheaper options: kit.honestjohn.co.uk/top-tens/top-ten-best-value-d.../
