2002 C5 estate - tailgate keeps opening

2002 C5 estate - tailgate keeps opening - easypeasy

Hi folks. I'm hoping someone can help me out. When I open the door to get out the tailgate opens as well. This also happens sometimes when I start the car up.Any ideas folks?Cheers

The usual problem with these is that they wont stay open! Does it open and close normally from the back? It sounds as though the mechanism is not latching properly, try pulling the tailgate open without touching the switch.

Peter it opens normally from the back. Sometimes now when I start the engine the tail opens. It is a pain having to keep gettintg out and shutting it as well as dangerous for my 2 dogs!!

I can appreciate that, we have a GSD. Sounds as though you have an electrical fault then, difficult as it has multiplexed electrics, you need to find someone with a Lexia code reader, have a look on the French Car forum.
