Nissan X trail 2.2 dci 2007 - misfiring, lack of power - SootyF

The symptoms are similar to others on the forum, but not exactly the same.

The car runs fine around town, no problems.

On the motorway, if the throttle openning is kept low, it will reach about 70mph in 6thgear, but any attempt to increase the throttle openning results in complete loss of power.

In lower gears the engine seems to totally lose power if heavy throttle openning is attempted.

Once the misfiring starts it gets worse and on occasions it has bee na struggle to get home, particulary if there are hills.

There are no warning lights.

In general it feels like fuel starvation.

Any thoughts anyone?

Could well be fuel starvation.I would start by replacing the fuel filter. Not uncommon for these to reduce fuel flow.hth

Your advice spot on. I asked dealer to comment and he agreed. He replaced the filter and all is well - brilliant! Top marks to Fred Coupe of Preston - honest advice, changed filter while I waited. Many thanks!
