vw t4 2.5 tdi - bent valves - sniffer 230

my vw t4 2.5 tdi water pump seized resulting in the cam belt breaking but worse still the cam shaft broke in four places, on removal of the head there appears to be no piston damage , just wondering is there a simple way to check for bent valves before re assembly. thanks in advance

A visual check will show any serious problem. If they all move smoothly from top to bottom without any resistance they are probably OK but a definitive test would be to pour diesel down each inlet and exhaust port and see if it leaks out of the valves, a small ammount of seepage is permissible but if it pours out it needs attention.
