Vauxhall Vectra B 2.2L - Rough running engine - goodlf

My 52 reg Vauxhall Vectra Elegance 2.2L petrol 70,000 miles developed severe vibration after being left with a meet and great company at Gatwick. Both my local garage and the nearest Vauxhall Dealers agree there is a problem but cannot trace the cause. The computer does not indicate any problem. Vauxhall Dealers suggested trouble in gearbox or differential but a specialist gearbox company says it is not. The vibration is definitely in the engine area and linked to engine revs but much worse under load/acceleration. It almost disappears when cruising at a steady speed.

In view of age and value the Vauxhall dealers do not wish to pursue the matter but the cheaper local garage is keen to follow up any sensible suggestion. They say problem like with a dual-mass flywheel but believe this not fitted to my car. New plugs and coil have been tried and engine mounts appear intact.

Any sugestions?

I'd suggest that's the cause, but the solution....................

did you note the mileage when you dropped it off ? & checked when you collected it ?

These meet and greet companies have had some very adverse publicity recently on TV and with some companies , it has been known for the cars to of covered considerable miles and had a good thrashing !

As bathtub tom suggests this may be the cause.

Vibration under load, does possibly indiacte a drive shaft problem ! if you drive it in a car park on full lock and gentley press the brakes whilst putting the engine under load is there any clicking or knocking noises ?

Have you checked the tyres for flat spots ? even the rears.

Timming chains are a known issue on a 2.2 ! but normally rattle at idle

sounds like a dual mass flywheel fault.Press clutch pedal does the noise change?
