HDI Intercoolers - Ben79
Do HDI engines with intercoolers have better economy at motorway speeds? I ask because the economy of my dad's Picasso HDI is possibly worse on the motorway than round town. (48 mpg either way). Will motorway economy improve as we get more than 2,000 miles on it? The engine doesn't feel very tight, and feels better than it did when new.

Thanks in advance
Ben

You need 10k. plus before it starts to free-up.

As far as I know, all cars have better economy on motorways than normal "mixed" use.

This may vary from 5 to 20%, according to vehicle and how much welly is used.

SWMBO's Fabia Tdi does 55 normally - 66 on long run.
(I have seen 69.5 on the on-board computer
BUT that was 3 hours at 80-85.)

If you do 90-95, MUST be less.

We weren't going as fast as 80, but I felt the numbers on the instant read trip computer weren't too brilliant. The average was 50 mpg, I was a little disappointed, but if time helps, lets get more miles on dad's car and save my petrol!!
