W Reg Ford Mondao 2.00ltr Manual Estate - Clutch Slip - thetattoomaster

Hi John,

I recently bought the above and I am ver pleased with it,...but there is I think a problem with the Hydrolic Clutch....it seems ok in first and second but when in third and fourth gear it seems to slip........I this normal for the clutch to behave like this if its on the way out????

It sounds like a slipping clutch. It's more likely to slip in the higher gears because the stress on it will be higher. A clutch replacement on these normally requires the subframe to be disturbed, so quite an expensive job to get done properly.

Its normally the deathe nell of old mondeos its more expensive to do the clutch than the cars worth,thats why they sold it.You either do it yourself or pay a large bill for someone elses services.
