Netbook - Claybuster

Just bought a Samsung N130 netbook (XP OS) and when doing a download speed check find it is less than half of what I get on my tower and Toshiba laptop even though a computer literate friend says the wireless gubbins in the laptop and netbook are the same, the same thing also happens if I use the hard wiring option. Any ideas please?
