I have a Rover 75 2001 2.0 CDT Conn SE Manual.

In the top middle of the instrument panel between the speedo and rev counter, sits the message centre for the trip computer. After selecting whichever function I want it to display (such as Range, mpg, etc) using the tip of the indicator stalk, the information is only shown for about 30seconds before the message centre goes blank. IS THIS NORMAL? The message centre does display other messages permanently such as if there's a bulb failure, or one of the doors is open etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've only just bought the car and the owners manual does not provide any information about this. If it is supposed to stay on and show you the trip information (such as Range) then what is wrong with mine???????
