Yetis are cheap at the bottom end of the range (and one magazine says the 1.2 is their favourite) and expensive at the top end - but according to What Car's tables they hold their value a bit better than an X-Trail (Yeti 2.0 41 % after 3 years, X-Trail 34 %).
The 170 TD is a lovely engine - I have it in my Octavia. I haven't tried a common-rail 140 but I shouldn't think there's a huge difference in normal everyday driving.
The Nissan Qashqai is more of a competitor to the Yeti than the X-Trail, so it might be worth looking at this, especially if you get a better PX deal against another Nissan.
